Updated video card (under lifetime warranty) from the 8800 (which failed after 2 years) with a 9800 (thanks for the great support eVGA!). The 9800 has been running fine for over a year, playing COD4 and BC2 easily at high resolution.

Thx techfan. Haven't OC's the e6600 yet, when the PC starts to show some age and needs a boost I will, at least as far as I can with air cooling. I want to stick with air cooling, got plenty of fans and the the Hardcano controls the rpm's of the 4 case fans between 50% and 100% -- right now they run at the low end of this range and the PC is very quiet which I like. The PS has 2 more fans and of course the CPU and the 8800 have their own. How far do you think I could OCing the e6600 go on air cooling alone? As far as the 1K goes, I'd like to get a new monitor and sound card and see how much is left over -- I'd like the biggest and fastest non wide screen LCD monitor I could get, there are surprising few choices above 19 in. (which I currently have) in the 4:3 aspect ratio. Widescreens took over without me noticing! ANy recommendations? I am looking at either the NEC 2170NX (21 in. 8 msec) or NEC 2070VX (20 in. 5 ms). Any recommendations? The sound card I was looking at is the Creative 7.1 X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatality Pro. - Newegg has just posted (yesterday) a 1 week rebate on it for $50 which brings it down from $135 to $85. I hope I get my coupon soon and that it is for Newegg :-) But the Tiger will do too !!!

started with 2Gb, then the identical package of two 1G sticks I originally installed went on sale, I thought Vista might be able to use the extra 2G so I got them. since then I also added a 4gb Patriot XPorter flash drive and activated Vista's ReadyBoost...saw no effect whatsoever, probably becasue the 4Gb of ram is enough.

Why 4x1gb of ram?
