Notes

This started out as a AMD Phenom II system in 2009 after my Alienware "Gaming Laptop" bit the dust. I have been adding/replacing components to it ever since. I upgraded the motherboard and CPU in 2014, and replaced it with the i7-4790. The case got switched shortly after that from the aging Raidmax Aztec to the C-70 primarily for convenience reasons.

The aim of the build is to be fast, cool, and quiet. It is also designed to be versatile under different use states. Every fan on the build is PWM and the case fans are routed through a Silverstone hub in the back for cable management and fan speed control. Playing GTA V in DSR 4k, or just browsing Facebook, it only uses the power it needs.

The lower wattage power supply is aimed at power saving, while it still has enough breathing room to overclock without issues.

The style is supposed to be militarized, and very plain jane. Cable management has been improved over the years, and it probably will continue to improve as I continue to swap out components. It's a function over form build.

If I had a thousand dollars for this system, I would probably replace the aging SSD for a Kingston M.2 drive. I would add a hotswap bay to the 5.25 slot, and replace the WD Black HDD with several SSDs running in a raid format. I would update the DRAM to something in the 2100mhz range, and probably by Corsair. I might replace the side panel with a solid piece of plexiglas, and run a custom water loop from E.K. That being said, I am very happy with how it is right now.

This is about to become a 1070 ACX system. Will post photos/benchmarks when it arrives on Tuesday.
