Notes

This rig has evolved quite a bit over the years. You know how it goes, you start off just wanting a gaming PC, then you want to run every game at max settings, and then you want to delid your CPU, then you want to use liquid metal TIM then you want to water cool everything, then you want to spend 3 hours going after 100 points in Firestrike.

My two main goals were silence and power. In the end, I did just about everything in my power to extract the maximum out of the silicon I was given. 5.0Ghz on the CPU and 1550/8100 on the GPU and temps below 60c. While I could reduce my temps by mounting a top 240mm radiator to my Fractal Design Define R4, I want to maintain a low noise profile.

Huge thanks to the EVGA forums and Overclocked.net for all the useful information.

For the future, I plan on waiting until there is a Pascal (1080) K|NGP|N or Classified. On the CPU side I will probably wait until Cannon Lake and Inte's Optane hit the mainstream.
