Notes

This rig got completely rebuilt in Spring 2011, adding all those key components and features listed in the directory above to create a completely new PC service device. Of particular note is the Areca 1680IX-8 RAID Controller, which controls ALL HD activity, external and internal both, in the PC. The bootable RAID bus master creates system I/O that surpasses even the fastest SSD drives out there today in the consumer class, and substitutes itself 100% for the HD system bus of my PC: there is nothing but optical drives on the internal SATA bus now. Note the 24GB of Kingston Hyper-X "Genesis" DDR3 1866Mhz RAM also, which gives me plenty of headroom for overclocking sessions beyond 4.2Ghz, and tons of RAM caching ability that allows one to have as many programs open as it takes to do any job, bar none. I particularly like the new Asus Xonar Essence ST PCI Sound Card, which is hooked up to a fine Logitech Z-5500 6-Speaker+sub, 600W RMS Dolby 5.1-THX-rated system via optical Toslink connector, as that thing rocks! There's a built-in headphone amplifier in the card which is superior to most stand-alone headphone amps, and I pair it with a set of Audio-Technica ATH AD700 phones for the ultimate editing and musical enjoyment system possible. I'll post a couple new pictures later with the new video cards in place, but you can hardly tell I've done all that work to the machine other than the 560 Ti SC's being obviously different that the previous 285's in place. Still it's a spectacular machine now, with that 6-Core 12-thread HexaCore 970 CPU working its multi-tasking magic, doing FAHome 24/7 as do the video cards, plus all my other assignments in media, sound, and audio-video concerns. I took an already great performing PC and made it into an unreal PC system with all the best components possible in place, and let me tell you it's a stunner to operate and enjoy all the CPU, RAM and HD RAID system speed that your little heart could ever imagine.

im thinking you could prolly go a little lower in voltage for your CPU.im running mine at 4.5GHz with a 1.28v

I have been enjoying this new rig's present setup with the new components for about 7 months now, and can truly call it the best of all worlds, no compromise here by any measure for any reason: it is KUHL, Baby! My RAID boot volume of 2TB size is just a plain old massive monster of a thing, an unbelievable performing base volume upon which the other blocks and parts and pieces all fit into with their own respective contributions, and I can honestly tell you all that this system, with twin RAID volumes operating independently of each other is THE BOMB! It's faster that any other boot volume in my arsenal of power, speed and grace to start things off, and finally it conquers all others totally, completely, and without mercy or any feelings getting hurt because it's a benevolent volume which only exists to serve the whole machine's proprietary strengths... which are hard to explain but nevertheless it is what it is, no more no less, and it works as good as any small start-up volume would. However it is NOT small being 2TB in size with reads and write speeds pushing the envelope to the maxx as it can do all day long, day in and day out, over and over again. Crazy Darn Good!! I can with some humility and respect for all the other fine machines here at Mods Rigs tell you that there is no faster RAID SATA II system in the EVGA profiles herein, and that this particular rig's consistently fast, reliable and basically BLAZING speeds in both read and write modes have got to be the King of the Hill for any 2TB SATA II boot volume, and I throw down the gauntlet to have anyone match or top this machine's consistently brilliant performance, bar none. I don't mean a system boot volume of less than 200GB either, I mean a boot volume of this size (2 TB) or higher, that is my only comment of any consideration tonight for the Forum to weigh into and see how you all measure up to this 2TB WD "Black" fueled Areca 1680IX-8 bus master/controller system that I type on this very second, and just see how it feels to be over or underwhelmed by performance like this system can dish out, that is all I can write tonight that really makes any sense at all. If you've got a faster, more powerful system than I am running right now, perhaps using some SAS 15K HD's and systems bring it on, and let's see how much better it really is...that is my only true blue comment about any of this right now. I hope you can realize that this performance is on line every second of every day, doing its thing with FAHome and any other things that I have going on in any given day. I love this consistent, powerful 2TB's of standard HD brilliance fueled by an Areca 1680IX-8 bus master/controller, no more and no less certainly: it sort of speaks for itself and talks its own language, and I love its performance as much as I love any computer's fine renditions of RAID algorythms. There will certainly be challengers of this machine's speed, and I simply want to see what you've got in the house to compare with my own system, that is all I mean to post right now. EVGA system brilliance is universal, and there is no winner in all this talk and gesticulating about how good my system is vs everyone else's system, we all win actually with our own versions of power, speed and capacity in our own rights...this is also certain and sure as the sun coming up every morning. See you all online and here in the Forums at EVGA, and there's no harm and no foul intended by any of these words I just penned, it's all in fun, good clean old all-American fun the likes of which this world has never seen before. Isn't life grand living it the EVGA way? I sure as heck think so 100% like I am doing right here tonight at the Forums. Step up and take the "mike" from me and tell us the benefits of your system because I'm certain that others would like to see it as much as I do, maybe more so! I think the world of EVGA products and technology plus the great people behind the scenes that make it all possible, and it only serves to exemplify the pure excellence that people are capable of making into their world, their reality, with a few simple tools and components and know how, that is all it is, right? Have a great week, and May God Bless America and the EVGA Way!

You have good eyes...yes, it's 12GB Trident 2000Mhz RAM, that I experimented with for about 30 days. Worked great! I just don't need that much headroom. So back to G.Skill 1600Mhz 'Purple Wonders' RAM, which is an xlnt batch of 12GB also...up to 1790Mhz, 1.66V VDIMM, 1.3V QPI/IOH VCore
