Notes

My good ole Dual Opteron system from 2006, gave it a NVIDIA Geforce GTX 480 PCI-E 1280MB 320Bit GDDR5 Rev.A2 5009 Engineering Sample it's from Week 50, Year 2009.

Due to the odd VRAM amount, this is very normal for an Engineering Sample to have, some GTX 480 ES boards had 512 Fermi CUDA cores but only 1280MB 320Bit to 1536MB 384Bit GDDR5, others only had 480 Cores with 1280MB 320Bit & 1536MB 384Bit VRAM configs.

It's part of my GeForce Led Logo project and after looking for a good three and a half years I finally got me this dream card, a card Chris "ChrisRay" Arthington and I talked a lot about when I was at the NVIDIA support forums :)

Nowadays this system serves as Network fallback system but also a test system to test VGA cards from my VGA card collection :)

For sound I gave it an Auzentech X-Fi Prelude 7.1, which is by far the best sound card on the PCI bus on the market, all in all I still love this system in every way, it's motherboard the ASUS K8N-DL also never showed a single hitch.

Well this is an oldie now just over 8 years in service, but still going on strong, that EVGA GTX 480 does a good job with it as well :) It's Mobo the ASUS K8N-DL is famous in 2CPU Opteron land, it also has a separate Overclocking bios section as well :) It's also well known for it's long term lifespan and quality of hardware parts, even today it can run the latest games fine @ 1440 x 900 x32 :)

Great build, the window shot is classy looking. I tried out the SR-2 with dual CPU's but had so many issues I gave up on it after a few months. EVGA was pretty slow to address many issues unfortunately.. +1'd

Yes Firefox SMP 2006 is from 2006 and I have given him a md life upgrade with that EVGA GTX 480 back in 2010, and I gave that card a Backplate and a High Flow Bracket this year with one of them EVGA Rubber SLI Connector protectors :) I use this system as a backhand system now, as LANs arent hardly kept these days. It's also a Descent server for Descent Tsk Force & Descent Rangersthe two main Descent Leagues I fly for as Tylosaurus.
